Model 161 Decor: Floral Year: 1905. High:
52cm. Wide: 16.5cm Painted
by: AL = Adrianus Lansaat.
Mr Adrianus Lansaat worked for the PZH from 1898 to 1907, and then from
1912 to 1915.
On many older marks the painter only provided one initial, i.e. the first
letter of the surname. The only other painter whose initials possibly
match this mark is Adrianus Alblas, he worked for the PZH in 1904, but in
1904 they did not use the words "made in Holland " . So all up I think the
painter is Mr Lansaat.
Also of interest is what is left over of 2 sticky labels. The red,
blue and white one (the colours of the Dutch flag) just show a
remainder of the words "Plateel bakkerij" en "Zuid Holland", the
other label with the blue margin possibly would have shown a pattern/decor
name.
My parents would have used a vase like this in spring. Just before
bud-burst they would put 1 or 2 sticks/branches of a tree that is about to
blossom in the vase and watch the flowers unfold inside the house, A
forsythia shrub was a popular choice for this.
