Schoonhoven.
Decor: Largo Year: 1930. High:
32cm. Wide: 15cm Painted
by: T = Anthonie (Toon) van den Berg.
This decor produced by the Schoonhoven pottery first appeared in 1929,
just before the great depression of the 1930’s started.
It is not easy to find traditionally coloured Gouda-pottery pieces like
this one in the 1930’s, partly because potteries ran out of the required
materials needed for production but also because people stopped buying,
hence production came to a standstill. Also the fabrication of the
matte-glazed pottery was probably too expensive to continue. First making
the pottery item, then firing it, then painting and then firing it again
was not a cheap process.
As a consequence little was made during those years.
In later years they also produced a fair bit of Delft, an example
