Petrus Regout
Decor: Paijsage Year: 1894. High:
31cm. Wide: 9-13cm Painted
by: Unknown.
This set of three Mantle vases was made in 1894, so quite old, and
beautifully preserved. The date code for this vase is found on
the left next to the printed mark, it is the number "91111", this
stands for 1894. Unlike nearly all other items in my collection this one
is not handpainted, well, some painting might have been done as a
finishing touch. The set is a credit to its makers, and it is hard to
believe they made this with nearly no actual painting, definitely given
the time when it was produced.
The main decor was copied from a painting made by Jan Vrolijk, in
recognition of that, the name of "Vrolijk" is painted onto the vase.
Below is an etch from J vrolijk which shows the farmer and his cows.
Also of interest is that the mark (left under) already shows the text
"made in Holland" , so the set was made to be exported overseas.
