Decor: Kaiser Year: 1911. High:
36cm. Wide: 16.5cm Painted
by: PZH.
This is a beautifully decorated vase with peacocks following each other
around. It is a very artistic design for that time.
Around 1918 they gave this decor the name of Kaiser, but that was
discarded shortly after due to the conflicts with Germany. I believe that
505 is the decor-code used for this decor.
The mark on this vase is still a normal PZH mark. The SS as part of the
mark are probably not the painter’s initials; they used these double
letters more often at that time. These double letters always seem to be
chosen from the second half of the alphabet, starting with NN.
The question still remains what the 2 letters stand for.
In later years this design was used by the Liberty&Co company in
England. By then the markings had nothing to do anymore with the
“Plateel Zuid Holland” potteries.
