The painter JVS = Jan van Schaick already started at the PZH around 1910, so by the time he painted this plate he had some 40 years of experience in painting pottery. Not only was he experienced, but he was also a very talented painter; there are some nice pieces from him in his younger years in the paijsage section of my website. E.g. look at
