The photo above shows 2 high glazed designs from 1923 (on the left)
and 1919(on the right).
High glazed items created by the Gouda Zuid Holland PZH factory
typically represent the oldest ones made by them.
Many of them seem to be painted against a darker background, like the one on
the bottom left.
The ones on a white or lighter background often have a much more detailed
design.
With the invention of the matte glazed pottery the high glazed ones
gradually started to disappear. They were phased out around 1918, and I
believe they largely disappeared around 1923.
When décor names were introduced around 1918 they simply gave the already
existing range of pottery like the one on the bottom left, the décor
name of “Gouda”.
The high glazed ones with a white background used to be known as P
(Porcelain) or NP (New Porcelain). The vase below on the right, was made in
1919 and with the introduction of décor names, this one was naturally
called NP.
